Why do I need branding photography?

Many business leaders STILL feel that there isn’t a need for business photos.

It’s a simple answer. You need branding pictures to better visualise your business online. To show who you are in photos.

There are many ways to visualise your business:-

  • Photos / expressions of the company figure head, key team players to match relevant tones in text, taken in varying locations.

  • Profile pictures (head shots), for social media pages, Instagram, Linkedin etc, also can be used for email footers.

  • Stock styled meeting shots and photographed in a documentary style, can be used to talk about business topics on your socials.

  • Branding Photography, a bespoke shoot that aims to visualise all aspects of your professional and some element of your personal brand. Includes a wealth of backgrounds and outfits and expressions to be used regularly and all year to elevate your social media platforms.

So yes, you have seen the above photos but what do they do? Why are brand photos relevant and why not just use stock images?

80% of the population respond to photographs subconsciously , read their content in split seconds, make judgements and then decide on action simply by what they have seen. This is proven scientifically.

‘Action’ might be to read the content because the photo appealed to them, or not. All decisions are made based on reading a photograph first of all, before text.

How powerful is that? That brand images have such control over IF someone decides your content is worth reading or not?

And it follows that the better your photos are, the more likely businesses are to make connections with you.

The higher the visual ‘voice’ the higher your business is perceived.

Using branding photography alongside your content is literally like speaking a second language every time you write. And each time you match your image and text together, they become one stronger and brighter voice.

So why not stock photos? They simply contain no emotional or connectable information about you.

So Debbie Inglis is a business leadership coach living in Matlock, Derbyshire.

Debbies first branding shoot was in Nottingham around 7 years ago. She uses brand photography to tell her business visual story, every week on Linkedin, via a Facebook community, a membership group and website and also through her online membership group to support podcasts, and any power point online presentations. It makes her business colourful and charismatic . It makes her brand vibrant. It visualises her business and better emotionally connects clients to her.
